Our Mission & Vision
The mission of Orems United Methodist Church is to love God, to love others, and to magnify the name of Jesus Christ. The vision of our church is to glorify our God and Savior, Jesus Christ, to make true disciples throughout all the nations by means of missionary activity and support, to minister the ordinances, to edify believers, and to do all that is sovereignly possible and biblically permissible to magnify the name of Jesus.
Year Established: 1773
Church History:
Francis Asbury helped to establish this congregation, first meeting in homes and then in a building that was destroyed by fire in 1831. The new building was named Orams Meeting house after a Trustee Henry Orams. Sometime between 1831 and 1859 the spelling was changed to Orems. In 1858 after a second fire, a new building was contructed and later in 1926 a Parish hall built. This building houses our offices and library today. The present Sanctuary was constructed in 1947 and the education building in 1958. The buildings you see today are connected with a hallway to form one continuous building to serve Office, Worship, Education and a variety of Missions.
Leadership Team:
Our leadership team recognizes the authority of God, and realizes that we are shepherds who serve under the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ. We desire to devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the Word. Our passion and goal is to equip the believers for the work of the ministry until we all attain maturity in the fullness of Christ.
Vicki has been working at Orems as Administrative Assistant since June of 2001. With a background in English and Religious studies she enthusiastically tackles the job of working with our congregation, staff and committees. If she doesn’t know the answer to the question-she knows where to ask! Vicki is a Sunday school teacher and Youth leader in her own church and when she can find the time she enjoys volunteering with events here at Orems as well.
